What Slow Lead Response
Actually Costs You

Your volumes, your close rate, your deal value, and an honest model of how contactability decays with response time. The output is the size of the prize for getting to five minutes.

A deliberately conservative planning model. The relative contact-rate factors follow the direction of the published lead-response research (odds of contact collapse after the first minutes); they are illustrative, your data will vary, and the number to act on is the gap, not the decimal. Currency follows whatever you typed.

Asked & Answered

Where do the response-time multipliers come from?

They are a planning model, not measured fact for your business. The direction is grounded in the published research: the Lead Response Management study found the odds of contacting a web lead collapse many times over between a five minute and a thirty minute response, and Harvard Business Review's 2011 audit found most companies took hours or never responded. Both studies are old and their exact multipliers should not be quoted as current gospel, so this model uses deliberately conservative relative factors. Your own data will differ.

Why does response speed matter more on purchased leads?

Because shared leads are sold to several buyers at once. The homeowner or borrower filled in one form; the first company on the phone reaches a warm prospect, and the fourth reaches somebody who has already booked with a competitor. Speed is the whole game on shared data, which is why we treat minutes as the unit of measure, not hours.

How do I actually get to a five minute response?

Not with a person watching an inbox. Web leads need to land in the dialler by API the moment the form submits, on a list whose priority outranks everything else the campaign dials, with agents genuinely available in staffed hours. Our speed to lead service page covers the architecture, and the evidence article covers what to expect from it.

Is this calculator accurate for my business?

It is honest rather than precise: a conservative model to size the problem, using your own volumes and values. The output worth acting on is the gap between your current band and the fastest one, not the absolute figure. Measure your real speed to lead from timestamp data before and after any change, and judge on your own numbers.
